Presentation

Born August 23, 1993 in Saint Etienne, Johé Bruneau is a French artist and designer, based in Lyon and Eindhoven (Netherlands). Having grown up in a sculptor's studio, he has a definite interest in crafts and thus places the medium at the heart of his creative process.

Through his work, he seeks to combine craftsmanship with the production of contemporary objects. As such, he studied at the ENSAAMA (National School of Applied Arts and Crafts) Olivier de Serres, passing a first diploma in craftsmanship and then a second in product design.

It is therefore with a view to adopting a mode of production and a meaningful medium that since 2015, Johé Bruneau has chosen to work only with recycled materials. Aluminum, glass, electric cables or even plastic waste, just as many end-of-life objects that he transforms, using processes that combine craftsmanship and low-tech technology.

For him, behind the choice of these mediums hides the question of the management of our resources, a major issue of the challenges of our society, to which he tries to respond, which will be the subject of his thesis "Reconsidering the authentic object of today".

In this, he gives substance through a real work of ennobling the material, aiming to bring out new aesthetics.
