Biography

Born in 1991 in France, Pierre Brault is a French contemporary artist, sculptor, designer, and art director whose work explores the interactions between light, color, material, and movement. Graduated from the 'École supérieure d'arts graphiques Penninghen' in 2016, he develops a transdisciplinary practice blending contemporary art, design, typography, mural sculpture, and light installations. Installed in Paris, he creates a singular visual universe where recycled plexiglass becomes a favored material, capable of transforming natural light into colored spectra and moving projections. His work is part of a reflection on the Slow Life, inviting the viewer to slow down and reconnect with a more sensitive perception of time and their environment.

Very early influenced by the Impressionists, and particularly Claude Monet and his Water Lilies, as well as by the kinetic art movement, Pierre Brault develops a plastic research centered on light as living matter. His sculptures and reliefs exploit the optical properties of cut, engraved, and superimposed plexiglass to produce plays of shadows and colors evolving throughout the day. For the artist, a work is never fixed: it transforms with the sun's course and the evolution of the gaze, making light a true actor in the creation.

Following his studies, Pierre Brault collaborated with the house Courrèges, before being solicited in 2017 by Canal+ to design the artistic direction and visual identity for the show L'Info du vrai presented by Yves Calvi. This project earned him an award from the Club des Directeurs Artistiques in the category Typography in motion. In 2018, he was selected among more than 1,300 candidates to imagine the posters and videos for the Rock en Seine festival campaign, created from his volumetric typographic installations.

In parallel with his artistic activity, Pierre Brault multiplies collaborations with the worlds of fashion, music, and luxury. He creates original designs for S.Pri Noir, participates in the artistic direction of the album Ce monde est cruel by Vald, designs a unique jacket for DJ Snake, and creates a trophy for Instagram. His universe also attracts many prestigious houses, including Lacoste, Cartier, La Prairie, Zadig & Voltaire, Ladurée, Vans, American Vintage, or even Chandon, which call upon his innovative approach to color and light. Since 2016, he has regularly collaborated with luxury brands while pursuing personal artistic production.

In 2018, Pierre Brault presented his first figurative works at the YIA Art Fair at the Carreau du Temple in Paris, with a series dedicated to entomology and the animal world. These researches will gradually evolve towards mural sculptures and abstract compositions where butterflies, bees, flowers, and organic forms become the supports for a reflection on biodiversity, nature preservation, and man's place in his environment. His works, made from recycled plexiglass, demonstrate a desire to associate plastic innovation, sustainable development, and ecological commitment, while maintaining a resolutely pop, luminous, and optimistic aesthetic.

Since 2022, Pierre Brault is represented by Galeries Bartoux, notably in their space on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. His works have been integrated into several private collections and corporate collections, as well as the collection of the Moroccan royal family. Today, he establishes himself as one of the emerging figures in the French art scene through work situated at the crossroads of contemporary sculpture, kinetic art, design, light installation, and environmental art. His universe, founded on color, movement, and light, offers an immersive experience where each work evolves to the rhythm of the sun and invites a renewed gaze upon the contemporary world.
