Born in Paris in 1917, Jean-Claude Libert graduated from the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in 1938. In 1946 in à Villeneuve-les-Avignon he has the chance to get in touch with many artists and he meets for the first time Albert GLEIZES and his future wife Yvonne.
Even though Jean-Claude LIBERT and Albert GLEIZES are 25 years apart, they are united by their common initial training in the texile arts and attraction for holy.
At Moly-Sabata, an innovative artists' residence founded in 1920 by Albert Gleizies and his wife Juliette ROCHE, intellectuals and artists come and go: among them the post-cubist painter Robert POUYAUD, Michel SEUPHOR, le psychanalyste Georges DEVEREUX, Serge CHARCHOUNE etc. Following the death of ceramist Anne DANGAR, the LIBERT couple moved there from 1952 to 1956.
At the end of his stay, Jean Claude Libert returns to Villeneuve where he opens an atelier with his wife. A the same time he keeps developing as an artist and he even becomes a teacher of fine arts in Paris.
The artsit's works have been exhibited on many occasion such as the Salon d'Automne en 1949 and the Salon des Réalités nouvelles in 1950.
