Biography
Joel Lhopital is a French artist born in 1950 in Vermelles. He is first and foremost a field painter, and he paints nature in the manner of the Impressionists or Abstract Expressionists. His works are created in oil or acrylic on canvas, and his aim is to explore the relationship between colors and interpret the subject through an expressive style and a spontaneous brushstroke. There is nothing conceptual in his painting.
He has received numerous prizes and awards in northern France, and has exhibited in many galleries in that region, as well as in the United States, particularly in Atlanta, where he exports many of his large-format canvases.
His work can be found in numerous collections in Europe, Australia, and the United States - He is listed on DROUOT.
