Biography
Architect and sculptor Stéphane Cloteau, under the name CIES, develops a sculptural oeuvre marked by rigor, precision, and purity. Heir to artisanal know-how, he explores the relationships between architecture, geometry, and materials, proposing forms where balance and tension occupy a central place.
With Stéphane Cloteau, geometric thinking unfolds in volume. Trained as an architect, he develops a sculptural practice nourished by architecture, geometry, science and the observation of nature.
Her works are born from a desire for harmony and balance, seeking to capture an assemblage, a movement, or a tension. The manipulation of materials, at the heart of her process, gives form to refined volumes where each element seems subject to internal forces.
Line, perspective, interlocking forms, and surfaces structure his artistic expression. An element of chance sometimes disrupts the initial rigor, inviting the viewer to reconsider their perception of space. Volume then appears as a suspended moment, poised between stability and movement.
