Malou Lancery creates personal textile artworks in which transformed denim and the embroidery techniques are used to explore materials and her inner landscapes.

Biography

Malou Lancery has always been drawn to beauty. From her earliest childhood, she loved collecting little things and putting them together. With just a few scraps of string, she created her own little world, which she relished. This is the thread she has followed throughout her life as a designer, all the way to Haute Couture. After working as a stylist, she wielded the needle with sensitivity, embroidering the stories of others onto the garments of major fashion houses. Then it was time to write her own.


She now explores and draws closer to the realm of her emotions, creating her own inner landscapes. Her artistic language is expressed through ancestral and contemporary techniques.

Among them are the (small stitches), the (rags), and the (a process of restraining the materials before dyeing). The materials she uses come from the homes where she grew up; they have been cut and sewn, and are imbued with meaning and memories…
