Christian Bartellemy

My name is Christian Bartellemy. I was born in Provence and trained as a cabinetmaker, where the materials and the craft shaped my perspective. 
 

From a very early age, light and form awakened a deep sensitivity within me, which has now become a pictorial language.
 

Through painting and drawing, I seek a harmony in which colour reveals emotion and inner movement. My works arise from a dialogue between memory, landscapes I have traversed and my presence in the world, in a quest for sincere balance. Each canvas aspires to offer a sensitive vibration, a soothing light that naturally finds its place in the gaze of the viewer.
Here, the sea is interpreted as a living organism. The waves become veins, flows of energy, as if the ocean possessed an invisible internal circulation. The deep blues evoke the invisible movements of the Atlantic currents, whilst the flashes of gold capture the sunlight resting on the water’s surface. Each work acts as a sensitive cartography of the ocean, a fragment of marine life suspended within the material.
