Chantal Lascurettes

After a first training cycle at the École des Beaux-Arts of Pau (64), I specialized in engraving under the direction of Jean-Marie Granier at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris. I diversified my artistic practice notably by working with ink which has become central today in my work with drawing as a basis.

From engraving to burin, I maintain a taste for meticulous work, and paper as a support. Nature is a subject of observation but also of dream, I do not seek to make it naturalistic; I observe the landscape for a long time, I let it infuse me, I draw quickly like taking notes then returning to the studio, often several months later the ink emerges. Sometimes it comes just from the color, but for me this color always stems from what I have been able to observe and carry within me, it is as concrete as a drawing of a tree and it is important to me that it carries emotion.
