Biography

CAROLLE MASSON

Visual artist — photography, video, installation, performance

Born in 1980, Carolle Masson lives and works in Alsace. She develops her practice within ATELIER 12, located in the former spinning mills of Guebwiller.

Her background is marked by a dual training in educational sciences and art therapy, which profoundly influences her approach to image and performance. These experiences have sensitized her to the mechanisms of perception, learning, and transformation—concepts at the heart of her artistic practice.

She conceives of the image as a space for dialogue, where tensions play out between the individual and the collective, the visible and the invisible, the rational and the sensitive.

Her work explores these connections by questioning the role of the body, movement, and imagination in our ways of perceiving and interacting with the world.

Photography, video, installation, and performance constitute the main mediums of her practice. She seeks to move images beyond their apparent surface in order to reveal the multiplicity of possible interpretations.

His devices, often immersive or open-ended, offer an active experience of perception and interpretation.
