Born in Geneva, Cat Soubbotnik is a famous photographer. She lives and works in France. After her Masters at Abstract Art Academy in Freiburg in Germany, she began working with other photographers Chico Bialas, Jean Larivière and Frank Rheinboldt in 1995. After having worked with other photographers, Cat Soubbotnik began working as a freelancer and became known for her fashion and commercial photos but also portraits.
Her photos have a pictorial aesthetic and she adapts them accordingly, like the works of Kiefer, Bacon, Freud, G Richter. The collages of artists in the 20's, Bellmer, Brancusi's sculptures have made an impact on her work.
Through the digital world, Cat Soubbotnik highlights "obsessive demystification" and influences her real or entertaining photos. On the other hand, her photos challenge traditions, by intensifying the non-representative aspect of the tangible world. Her photos are intuitive and open a door towards reality and new perceptions. Her heightened sensitivity is combined with bewitching lyricism.
She regularly exhibits in Switzerland, London, Berlin , Paris but also other cities. Her works are part of several private European collections, especially Swiss and Swedish ones. She is represented by galleries in Paris and London.
