Edouard Buzon

Edouard Buzon was born at Clamart (France) in 1979. He lives and works in Montreuil (France).

At the age of 32, Edouard is an emerging artist. His works show a certain form of the current urban aesthetics. He plays on the opposition between the raw universe of architectural forms that he photographs and the smooth icy varnish with which he finishes his works. His unique lacquer technique, the striking contrast between the black and white photos of industrial landscapes and the appealing colors make his paintings very desirable pieces.

This is how he describes his work:

"I testify, through my works, of a certain form of today?s urban aesthetics.

The creation process spreads over several months, this is the time required to charge each painting with of history, by painting, writing, erasing, covering...

The technique puts in opposition a raw urban universe, and the smooth glossy varnish. I use a technique of color blocks on a wooden frame consisting of successive layers of polyurethane varnish to which I add pigments and photographs. Each of them is sanded and polished.

When I add characters, these are more like silhouettes of absent presences which are located in light sources.

If my photos evoke the negative of a color photograph, that may be a game of illusion, of the metamorphosis."
