After a DEA in Modern History at the Sorbonne (Paris IV), Charlotte Champion decided to switch to sculpture. Trained in the studio of Nicolas Poussin and Jonathan Hirschfeld, she started working in clay and making portraits and nudes, and then became interested in the animal and vegetal world.
Charlotte Champion likes to work with all materials (plexiglas, wood, resin...), but her sculptures are very often made of bronze. It is the case of her animal series that seem to come straight out of a fantastic universe, from tales and legends. It is a bronze menagerie that Charlotte brings to life by giving it movement: the butterflies twirl, cats jump around and the elephants are in balance like acrobats on their metal pedestals (made of stainless steel, steel, brass or bronze). Recenly she has also been painting the bronze in bright colors.
