Rodolphe Barsikian

Rodolphe Barsikian has established an atypical artistic career. Of Armenian and Italian origin, Rodolphe grew up in Sarcelles. All his childhood he was immersed in the multicultural effervescence of this suburb. He develops a curiosity for all forms of expression and rejects the obvious. His taste for contrast, for the rough is refined and directs his sensitivity towards the plastic arts. Painting, gouache, charcoal, pencil will be his first supports. He discovers an obsession with the line and makes a number of sketches in his student room in an almost hypnotic state. It was as a free candidate that he obtained a prepa at Epsa (Higher Professional School of Graphic Arts) and entered Isaa (Higher Institute of Applied Arts). At Isaa he is guided by Maria Arnold, graphic artist, Stéphane Calais and illustrator Rocco. These encounters are decisive: vector graphics are essential as their ideal means of expression. He begins the creation of a quantity of works and motifs in perpetual evolution. With vector graphics, Rodolphe made a clear choice: that of combining rigor and creativity with the freedom to produce his work on a multitude of media without ever being locked into any. Music, luxury, architecture, cosmetics…, upon leaving school, Rodolphe exercises his graphic art for communication campaigns by creating illustrations, packaging, visual identities or even event decorations and scenography for Parisian exhibitions. At the same time, Rodolphe never ceases the production of vectorized works of art. The works of the “Vector Obsession” collection are the result of an ultra-meticulous technical approach over more than fifteen years of hard work.
