Presentation

Thibault de Puyfontaine is a photographer who repaints the world with an incredible palette of colors. He approaches photography not as a decisive moment but as a privileged moment in meditation. In 2007, a first trip to Egypt was a revelation that engages him in a personal photographic process. The Late Colors series was born in the night alleys of Cairo. “Photographing at night is like arriving at the end of a market, people have left but a powerful energy persists… .. The districts then appear like theater sets, the walls turn into vaporous ruins, the fleece disguises itself as a white rose, fragments of materials become an unreal assembly ”. He continues his approach under the strange and electric lighting of the nights of the world, in Mozambique, Colombia then in Asia. Thibault de Puyfontaine lives and works in Paris, but regularly travels the world. He was introduced to photography in 1998, then in 2001, within the Ateliers de Sèvres, he learned about painting, drawing and sculpture. During the following years, he trained in studio techniques and exercised his photographic know-how in reportage, packshot, advertising. His trip to Egypt in 2007 - followed by a dozen others - encouraged him to concentrate on his personal work. In 2010, he traveled to Mozambique (where he remains in residence at the French Cultural Center) and Colombia, where he exhibits. In 2011, spotted by Baudouin Lebon, he was invited to Arts Elysées, FIAC off. In 2011, “Late Colors”, his work on Egypt, was the subject of numerous press articles: ChasseurImages, Télérama, Azart and was very successful at AROA. In March 2018 AROA presents him for the second time with photographs brought back from his last trips to India.
