Biography
Born in 1851, Charles Valton is one of the most important animal sculptors of the second half of the 19th century. A student of Barye and Frémiet at the Museum of Natural History, he was rewarded during the universal exhibitions of 1889 and 1900. He seems to have a preference for compositions honoring peaceful animals, far from the romantic struggle of the mid-19th century century.
