Biography
A graduate of the Fine Arts of Nantes, she runs painting workshops in Pont-Aven. Isabelle Courtiau alternates paint applied with a large spatula and flat varnish, like a mille-feuille towards a rendering close to a lacquer. These dozens of successive steps create a depth and a vibration revealing the first layers of paint. The "figurative" painting becomes "abstract" when you approach it.
