Presentation

The world as a raw material,

Photography as a tool,

The conductor photographer,

Aesthetic and testimonial art as a finality.

The photographic work of Michel Hirsch is above all the fruit of passions.

Passion for the world around us in the first place, forged by thirty years of shaping his eye as a building and public works engineer during which his stakes were to transform space, to shape it, to create, to build.

Passion for photography then, the ultimate art to capture and transmit the ephemeral beauty of a moment, a light, a creation of nature or of man.

His training at the Ecole de l'Image des Gobelins in Paris will be the key to developing a new perspective on this world, the starting point for a collection of unique and singular works.

The playing field has not changed but where it was a question of transforming it is now necessary to immortalize. The construction has given way to observation, the desire to model to that of sublimating the existing. The artistic work has replaced the industrial, delivering a subtle testimony to the world around us.

Our environment is plural, the photographs of Michel Hirsch reflect this.

Nature as grandiose as it is tiny naturally imposed itself on him and occupies a prominent place in his work.

From the beauty of a landscape to the detail of an exotic plant, including the flight of a butterfly, he finds in photography the ideal and exhilarating way to immortalize, unveil and share these ephemeral, sublimated moments of grace. by the light and marked by surprising encounters offered to its objective.

But our world is not just nature. How to contemplate it without seeing the imprint we leave there. Far away and yet so close to the tranquility of a grove or the harmony of a pond, are these spaces colonized by man. Industrial sites or disused factories, ambivalent witnesses both to the fragility of nature and to its vigor in regaining its rights. Rather than ignore it, Michel Hirsch puts his sensitivity on this reality, offering powerful works with varied evocations. Power, harmony and above all poetry emerge as evidence from his captured moments, when time stands still, the gaze changes and the apparent ugliness is interpreted with gentleness and emotion.

Sometimes abstract, sometimes raw, his creations reveal our daily life under new balances offering a vibratory, graphic and colorful representation of our environment.

Subtle invitation to dream, the collection of works by Michel Hirsch installs between his images and the viewer a strong but soothing resonance in which everyone is free to project themselves according to their sensitivity and their history.

“We're just passing through. What was built will be destroyed, what we steal from nature will be taken back, what was useful will be obsolete. In our constant rush forward, let's stop for a moment. Let’s contemplate. Appreciate. Let's enjoy. Let's dream. And let us act as a witness to the ephemeral balance that lies before us. It is these plural, sincere, hedonistic emotions that I hope to share through each of my photographs. "
