Charlotte Perriand

Charlotte Perriand was a French architect and designer born in Paris on October 24, 1903 and died in Paris on October 27, 1999.

In the 1920s, she studied at the École de l'Union centrale des arts décoratifs in Paris, where she developed a keen interest in industrial design. In 1927, a meeting with Le Corbusier marked the beginning of a significant collaboration. Perriand joined Le Corbusier's studio, where her innovative ideas and emphasis on functional design significantly influenced the modernist movement. Together, they crafted iconic pieces like the LC4 Chaise Longue, exemplifying the fusion of form and function.

Perriand's career expanded internationally, with notable projects including the "Equipment de la Maison" exhibition at the Salon d'Automne in 1929 and her work on the interiors of the Maison du Brésil in Paris. She played a vital role in the creation of mass-produced, affordable furniture, advocating for accessible design for all.
