Juliette Lemontey's paintings suggest that the body is a burden, but that we cannot let go of this burden; it is our fate, our luck too. Because against all expectations, the vision of this temporary "relaxation" is born a poignant emotion. Jean-Louis Roux My work is closely linked to my life; in the sense that it feeds on encounters, readings, films, everyday life. Like a private diary. Meeting a female model who agrees to pose for me. A friend who is there resting on my sofa. There I see the painting that I am going to do. And all the decorative elements around it ... cushions, sofa fabric ... Lightened, coated, softened reality. Since I take photos, my models pose, rest, the time of the photo. And then the fabric, and the support itself (the sheet) participate in this moment of drowsiness, naturally. Someone once slept in this sheet that I use. I paint the trace, the outlines of this body which has stretched out there. In fact I paint small moments of the relaxation life at the moment but other things will come ... I paint the moment when the model is shown. One day I meet a person who gives me the canvas, who tells me about old fabrics, the weft, the addicts, the meaning of the colors of the patterns. The importance of drawing. Then, I realize that I myself have a collection of printed fabrics in my closet that I had forgotten, while waiting ... So this meeting helped open my eyes to something that was already in me but that I hadn't taken the time to look. I also find dry ends that I had done and how much I had loved the ring, the impossibility of repentance. Lean straight away, don't overdo it.
