Lord WK

Lord WK is a young artist born in 1994 who lives and works in Lorraine near Metz. Its visual language is freely inspired by the history of Contemporary art and popular culture, redeploying styles and genres canonized while borrowing images from Geek, pop culture and Street-Art. Holder of a Master of Plastic Art acquired at the University of Lorraine, he has been developing for several years a very original graphic work Impregnated with solid artistic references, He draws his sources from the great initiators of abstraction such as Kandinsky, Hartung or Pollock but also artists at the origin of Street Art and very graphic like Keith Aring. He offers us a codified work where images inspired by graffiti, logo, video games, urban culture are mixed with elements borrowed from the masters of geometric abstraction. His very structured, almost structured work offers elevations, architectures, geometric grids like a graphic alphabet that opens the doors to a universe of colors with an explosive palette. The artist develops dichotomies in his canvases: order / disorder, shadow / light with multiple references to his region of origin: blackened metallic architectures, industrial wastelands of a glorious and laborious mining past and the cathedral of Metz, his city with its Gothic spiers and 6500m2 of stained-glass windows including those by Chagall which flood this complex architecture in an explosion of color. Lord WK's works are reminiscent of the art of stained glass through the geometric architecture of the frame which acts like a structuring framework opening up infinite spaces of color. Spotted by many collectors, it is presented by the StacklR Gallery of Sedan (08) which devotes a solo show to it in June 2019.
