From an early age, Mr. Garcin enjoyed cutting out and piecing together elements from graphic works. His inspiration draws on the plethora of comics and manga that accompanied the early years of recent generations. The material, populated by heroes who represent an ideal of justice and morality. Mr. Garcin rose quickly to fame when Marvell used his work as the cover art for #700 of The Amazing Spiderman.
His interpretation of superheroes can be seen as a critical extension of the new contemporary mythology. By populating his works and re-workings with these apparitions and multiple personas, Mr. Garcin does more than bring a tradition to life. He builds a graphic discourse on the repetition and endless transformation of characters who have faced thousands of villains, adapted to the times, and responded to societal developments while retaining a unique visual signature in the form of a recognizable brand.
