Biography
Celia Nkala, born in 1983, lives and works in Paris. After studying Plastic Arts at the Sorbonne, Design and then Textile Design (Esad, Reims and Lisaa, Paris), she worked for several years at the Christian Lacroix house as a textile designer. She then focused on her own practice and took part in multiple collective exhibitions and cultural events in particular, and for the most recent, at the Daend gallery, Paris, at the 2018 edition of the Parcours St-Germain and at the Villa Belleville where she also performs a residency. Célia Nkala's sculptures marry a minimalist geometry and come to sophisticated raw materials such as marble, copper or brass.
