Biography

Photographer Michele MAURIN was born in the Ivory Coast and she has kept a strong connection with her native country, where she started her artistic career.

At the age of 14, she discovers the African savannah and starts her own initiation with basic photographic material, driven by her desire to discover nature.

She graduated from a Master?s program in Tropical Ecology and taught middle-school biology in several countries in Western Africa.

She arrived in France when she was 40 and dedicates most of her time to photography. She organizes exhibitions and she works with numerous photographers.

For Michele, photography is an emotional adventure. Each of her prints is a masterpiece.

Today, she teaches in one of the most prestigious photography schools in Paris, the Ecoles de l'Image des Gobelins.

Michèle Maurin prints her images in black and white on traditional photographic paper. She adds color to the image through the use of toners such as gold, uranium, selenium and vanadium. Her projects change depending on the availability of these metals.
