Lina Karam

The French-Lebanese painter and designer Lina Karam was born in Beirut in 1958. She grew up in a family sensitive to creation: her father, an architect, encouraged her to draw from an early age. Marked by the civil war, she moved to Paris in 1976 and attended the Guillaume Met de Pennighen and Jacques Dandon studios. She was then spotted for her colorful and exuberant works. 

Always in search of harmony in shapes and colors, Lina Karam draws her inspiration from a figurative universe that draws its references from contemporary painting, pop culture, classicism and digital art. 

Inspired by Nature, she graphically transcribes water, plants, seascapes ... And thus creates a unique universe! 

Lina Karam has developed for years with passion and refinement her oil painting technique which transports you into a world of poetry. She evokes the dreams and adventures of a traveler witnessing the differences between East and West. 

She illustrates her emotions and also questions our contemporary society. The themes of construction and destruction are at the heart of her work, as well as those of war, love, roots, freedom and the condition of women. Finally, the news and her daily life lead her in her creation. 

She also worked for great couturiers such as Yves St Laurent, Gucci, Emmanuel Ungaro and Valentino. 

Some highlights of her career: She was selected for "Nuit Blanche" 2018 by the Ministry of Culture, Paris. She exhibited with ECC in the exhibition at Palazzo Mora in Venice, in parallel with the Contemporary Art Biennial 2019. She also participates in various group exhibitions such as "Maternity" at Palazzo Albrizzi Capello in Venice.
