Moris Gontard was born in Nantes in 1940. He lives and works in Paris.
After studying at the School of Fine Arts of Nantes, he made several advertising mockups and movie posters and in the 70s he decided to devoted himself entirely to painting .
After careful observation of reality, Moris Gontard's artistic practice fnally evolved into a landscape design increasingly distant from realism. His work is part of the French tradition of depicting aquatic landscapes, which has been his favorite subject in the recent years. With a well mastered technique, the artist choses the pattern freely. According to the artist own words his pieces depict: "Fragments of landscapes where natural life still exist, that are juxtaposed in an imaginary space to which only poetry can gives sense and harmony."
His pieces have been exhibited in numerous international expositions around the world, as well as in several international shows and fairs such as the FIAC in Paris, ARCO in Madrid or the Venise Biennale. His work is displayed as well is certain international museums such as the Museum of Modern Art of Paris.
