"The beginning of my work is devoted to portraits. The expression of the face has always fascinated me. Faces of children, young people, old people, with or without wrinkles, the looks, the emotion… that I try to translate in the most expressive way possible, with gestures and very marked materials, the right brushstroke, in the right place, as dynamic as possible.
I like living painting, the effects of materials, whether in the drips, the transparencies, or the sanding of the thicknesses of colors. On large formats, depending on the different lights of the day, the canvases change. I like to observe certain zones, the details… Even if at first glance you see, for example, a face on my canvas, as soon as you enter inside and that you detail the zones, a lot of things happen with it. shapes, materials, transparencies.
The colors and the drips generate mixtures of colors, it is a living space… another painting in the painting. Your eye picks up different emotions each time it wanders on the canvas. "
