Biography
Claude Colliat, self-taught designer, began his artistic work by creating theatrical sets, then by restoring antique furniture and decorative painting.
Transforming pre-existing objects, he turns them into original and functional works. One day, facing a soldering iron, the creative impulse transformed him into a blacksmith-sculptor. He then gives free rein to his imagination, creating metallic works as unique as they are varied.
He retains from his past work the idea of monumentality and borrowing it from the practices of the Decorative Arts. He creates masterful works in questioning colors, materials and shapes and in spectacular sizes.
