Biography
Marie Azéma calls her work "materialist". The pictorial material is made up of pigments, paints, sand, inks sometimes also pieces of fabrics, newspapers. The wooden supports, fabrics are meticulously prepared and mounted but also grated, torn, re-stitched.
The paint, pigments and collages work by superposition like so many palimpsests. Marie Azéma, likes to translate the imprint of time.
