Marie Leberquier

Marie Leberquier is a French artist.

After studying art history, Marie graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Modernes de Paris in 1996.

Very quickly she turned to the world of children:

- illustration of the book "Contes à croquer" by Artémuse editions,

- decoration of a pediatric ward at the Robert Debré Hospital,

- creation of the logo " Petit Blanc d'Ivoire ".

- co-creation in 2000 of the workshop-boutique Dis Bonjour à la Dame (works on order or in series, artistic expression courses).

- Realization of the line " Les Intrépides " for the object editor Incidence.

In 2006, Marie decided to settle alone in her studio in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, to devote herself to her painting and to open herself to other universes: Hachette Livres de Poches had her illustrate several covers by Stephen Zweig.

She creates posters, notably for the Avignon Festival.

While continuing to paint, she is trained in art therapy in 2012 (lInecat : Institut National d'Expression, de Création d'Art et Thérapie). A way to share her passion for the plastic arts: she accompanies different audiences (people with neuro-degenerative diseases, long-term unemployed, groups in companies, parents-children). She has been directing the "Ateliers Créer Ensemble" for 3 years.

Her work consists in taking inspiration from scenes of daily life which she illustrates with a naïve style, devoting herself above all to materials and colours more than to academic requirements.

Her universe is poetic, sometimes melancholic. She gives life to her characters by focusing on their attitude, which often says more than the features of their faces. This is why she often presents them from behind.

Acrylic is her main technique because she likes its thickness and dense colors. She is inspired by photos she took on the spot or that she chooses on different supports. Her creativity is animated by the composition of warm universes in which one would like to find oneself.
