Biography

What drives me in the drawing is the work of the pictorial composition, a limitless field of exploration.


What I'm looking for is a certain point of balance, which I try to approach through an exercise of ordering and weighting that structures the image. In my abstract or figurative research, I work on the development of relationships: empty / full, light / dark, rhythm / rupture ... With the aim of transcending the simple juxtaposition of shapes and colors to achieve a state of cohesion: I hope to catch the eye and invite contemplation.


I found in engraving a medium that meets my aspirations. This technique suggests a return to elementary pictorial components. The solid, the line, the hatching; the unique color of each pass. And above all: this physical work of the material which establishes a distance between the initial gesture and the final drawing, separated by successive stages of engraving, inking, printing ... A process that gives me a measure in the creation, a moderate pace, that of manual work of the material.
