Gilbert Dauguet is a French painter and sculptor born in 1958.
Gilbert Dauguet paints in oils and pastels, in a very personal style, which reflects Cubism. He works on sculptures in cardboard and obtains, via collages and all kinds of artefacts, a trompe l’œil effect, tricking the viewer. False perspective, inverted objects, deformed faces… So many visual traps that we get a delicious feeling of vertigo. Whoever approaches a work by the artist is transported into his theatrical, fantasy world where movement reigns as complete master, enlivened by intense, dazzling colours.
