Biography
Born in Colombia. His personal and artistic journey is closely linked to the conflicts that have taken place and that persist in the country. Moreover, he is strongly attached to the identity of the city of Medellín, where he is developing a social photographic project with disadvantaged and stigmatized communities, in collaboration with independent, private or public structures of the city.
In general, he deals with subjects around the Mediterranean since he lives all year round in Marseille, in France. He is influenced by the painter Edward Hopper, the photographers Elliot Erwitt, Martin Parr and Peter Lindbergh.
His work revolves around a socio-cultural and environmental axis, while bringing a "pop" touch to the world of travel, urban culture and youth. He also likes to add a flavor of irony, mixed with an avowed minimalism in his shots. He likes to reappropriate the social issues that shape our generation and deconstruct certain myths that the dictatorship of the image imposes in our collective thought. He regularly collaborates in the world of fashion in Marseille and was invited to the Milan Fashion Week in 2023.
Selected by Klaus Fruchtnis, director of the photography department of the École supérieure d'art de Paris, to represent Colombian artists living in France as part of the [Tiempo] event of the Consulate of Colombia. He is also the grand winner of the OFF VISA pour l'Image festival in 2020. In 2023, a projection of one of his works is organized during the "Rencontres d'Arles", at the Rivera Ortiz Foundation. He was also selected to exhibit by the Colombian Ministry of Culture as part of the national day of memory and solidarity with the victims of armed conflict and the 2024 Paris Olympics, to represent Colombian culture, at the Parc de la Villette, at La Casa Colombia.
Finally, he received the Public Grand Prize at the 16th Nuits Photographiques de Pierrevert, with the famous photographer "Reza" as sponsor for this edition.
