Biography
Léa Arnezeder is a French contemporary painter whose work explores the boundary between figuration, portrait and abstraction. Born to an Egyptian mother and an Austrian father, she grew up in Bali before moving to Paris in her adolescence. After literary studies, she continued her artistic journey at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York, where she began to explore painting and gradually developed her own visual language.
During her stay in New York, Léa Arnezeder met many artists and began by creating portraits. She then worked on expressing human faces using the dripping technique, highlighting the details and emotions that cross the features of the face. She progressively deconstructs the classical representation of the portrait to reveal a singular beauty, beyond conventional appearances.
Her work then evolved towards abstract painting where forms, colors, and materials become the main vectors of expression. The artist moves away from visible representation to make way for an intuitive and spontaneous approach, guided by sensations and pictorial experimentation. Her compositions bring forth unexpected forms, where superimposed colors can reveal silhouettes, imaginary landscapes, or invisible realities.
Through her works, Léa Arnezeder develops a sensitive universe inspired by nature, travel, and inner exploration. Her abstract painting is based on a dialogue between color, material, movement, and emotion, inviting each viewer to a personal interpretation. Her canvases create open spaces where the imagination occupies an essential place and where every gaze can reveal a new reading.
Her works have been exhibited in South Africa, Paris, and Berlin, contributing to making her artistic approach known on the international scene. She also creates film posters for American productions, developing a visual practice that extends beyond painting. Today, Léa Arnezeder is mainly dedicated to contemporary abstract art, seeking to offer through her creations a free, emotional, and deeply personal visual experience.
With a work situated between gestural abstraction, chromatic research, and the expression of emotions, Léa Arnezeder affirms a painting where the invisible becomes matter and where colors become a universal language.
