In 1990, I discovered for the first time, a black sandy beach in Guadeloupe.
Sitting on this beach with the Soufrière volcano at my back and the ocean in front.
I am seized by this magnetic discovery, I will return to the island in 1993 to begin the harvesting of the sands by criss-crossing the island.
I was amazed to see the diversity of the colours of the sand and I thought I would use them when I returned.
In 1995, I studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Paris.
I then went to England to study Art and Design at the City college of Manchester for 3 years.
As time went by, I brought back sands from my travels, then my family, my friends, my entourage participated in the Work in progress by bringing me sands from their travels on Earth.
This is how I have been working since 1997, on the thousand and one shades of the sands of the World, one of the constituents, the origins of our Earth.
I have found my dream material: minute, fluid, volatile, solid, granite-like, evanescent, timeless, original.
With the sands, I draw lines in relief to let emerge from the void, the vibrant forms of a vertiginous world.
They delimit a space, then superimposed on each other, they inscribe themselves in time and create rhythms with varied harmonics of colours.
The line springs up, like a heartbeat, palpitates, wavers, oscillates, breaks, swirls, folds, unfolds, curls, undulates... by jolts, convulsions, caught in the random currents of the permanent turbulence of fluids.
I enter this region of the body, where the gesture is tied to the momentum of the vital breath, and the weight of mineral matter is in tune with the thread of the air.
