Nils-Udo

Nils-Udo was born in 1937. He lives and works in Germany. He studied at the Beaux-Arts University in Nuremberg (Germany) between 1955 and 1960.

He was a precursor of the “Art in Nature” movement and he interacts with the landscape without ever invading it. He is a globe-trotter and travels from Connemara to Réunion, from l’île de Vassivière to Central Park, creating each intervention with materials that he finds on-site.

Nils-Udo’s career started in the ‘60s. In the ‘70s, he starts photographing the installations he had been producing in nature. He creates nests, altars, and water houses. By celebrating nature through his installations, he makes us rediscover things that our eyes and ours senses have ceased to perceive. His work is internationally known today.

He has been represented by the Claire Gastaud Gallery since 2001 and he is present in the most important public and private international collections, being considered one of the masters of today’s fine-art photography.
