Bence Bakonyi

Bence Bakonyi was born in 1991 in Keszthely, Hungary. During his youth, he taught himself photography. He later received training at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. After graduating, he left for China and received another training at the Shanghai Normal University in photography. He also traveled around Asia.

His series of photos often reveals natural and urban landscapes, each one is as deserted as the other. In his highly refined photos, all forms of life seem to have vanished, at times one can observe a lonely human presence. One can sense the limit between purity, calm and anxiety. Space holds an important place as it is able to link reality and fantasy, taking us away from everyday issues.

Despite his young age, Bence Bakonyi has already participated in several exhibitions and fairs around the world. His work is present in Hong Kong, Paris, Stockholm and Budapest. His works were also exhibited in museums, such as the Ludwig Museum and the Hall of Art in Budapest, not to mention the Xuhui Art Museum in Shanghai.
