Biography

Ken Andhisti creates paintings in which memory takes material form. Based in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia, she works through abstraction and experimental processes to explore transformation, loss and human connection.

Layers, stains, stitched fragments and abraded passages become part of her visual language. Andhisti allows these encounters with materials to guide her paintings, balancing intuitive gestures with considered structure. Her surfaces invite close attention to what has been concealed, exposed or brought together again.

In Yang Robek Tak Selalu Hilang, she explores rupture and reconstruction through layered and stitched surfaces. Aku Sekarang Ibu develops an intimate reflection on memory and transformation. Choosing Servanthood turns toward faith and surrender, approaching spiritual experience through abstraction.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Fine Art Creation, specialising in Painting, from Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, and a Bachelor of Fine Art Education from Universitas Negeri Surabaya.

Her selected exhibitions include Manifesto 7: Pandemi at the National Gallery of Indonesia, the International Triennale at Jogja Gallery, Unity in Diversity in Surakarta, and Art Moment Jakarta — UOB Painting of the Year.

Her work offers a contemplative encounter with the marks that experience leaves behind, allowing viewers to discover their own connections within each painted surface.
