Biography
NISSAN ENGEL Born in Haifa, Israel, November 27, 1931. After living for several years in New York, he chose to settle in Paris. Artist, craftsman, innovator, technician, poet, musician, all of these terms are essential to describe Nissan Engel. During a prolific career spanning almost forty years, Engel has developed a unique form of expression, a rich, complex, very personal form that defies any desire for classification. He is an internationally renowned artist, who is perhaps best known for his mixed media, in which he manipulates disparate elements in order to create compositions.
