Vane Saltarelli is an Italian painter who was born in 1945 near Como. He is the son of a painter, and studied at the Superior School of Art Castello in Milan. He currently lives and works in the Italian city of Gallarate, where he teaches Fine Arts.
His work is very contemporary but is not devoid of references from the past, specially reference from the period of the Reinnaissance. He has a preference for nudes which he treats as sketches, and then he darns and upset. In his compositions, the fade gives a strong impression of movement. The colors on the other hand serve to give a degree of sensuality and passion to the canvases. "Vanni Salterelli is a contemporary artist who has an impressive ability of adaptation and who transcends the classical references to achieve profound humanity. This is reflected on his sensual and carnal images, where the aestheticism of the forms is essential", declared Annie Droit-Girard about his work.
