Silvio Vigliaturo born in Acre, Calabria, in 1949. Very young, he moved to Chieri (TO), where he still lives and works. Artist and master glassmaker, his technique is always time for research and experimentation. From the first exhibition, in 1977, through participation in the Italian pavilion of the 54th Venice Biennale, until the staff in June 2012 at the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences in Turin, Vigliaturo's artistic career is constantly evolving . A progressive and difficult journey for the artist to face a variety of themes with different styles and instruments. Paint, glass, steel, terracotta are all treated at the same time as the material and as an ideological choice. It is thanks to the mixture of techniques that the horizon of Vigliaturo's experiences increased exponentially and paved the way for an original and unprecedented vision, able to return to the themes and the mode of expression of painting and which led to the current results of his work. The artist's approach to glass work is derived from his tireless activity as a painter. The strong visual impact of her work comes from the transparency of colors, able to generate a semblance of attractive fluidity and dall'antinomia between the weight of the material used and the lightness of the forms that the artist is able to shape through it. In 2006 he was named artistic Vigliaturo testimony of the XX Olympic Winter Games in Turin took place. In June of the same year, the city of Acre dedicated a museum - MACA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Acri) - which houses a permanent collection of his works intended as biographical which meanders through more than two hundred rooms, including sculptures and paintings. In 2010, the region of Calabria invited him as a testimonial artist to Expo Shanghai 2010. In early 2013, he participated in the Contemporary Glass Sculpture exhibition, at the Orlando Museum of Art, which brings together of the most important glass artists on the occasion of the fifty "years of the Studio Glass movement.
