Maddalena Fanfani

Italy • 1980

Mad, an Italian-London artist, creates chimerical works where colours and symbols translate a poetic universe, captivating a global audience.

Biography

Originally from Italy, Mad found inspiration in Japanese manga culture at an early age. She attended art school before pursuing fashion design studies at the Marangoni Institute in Milan.

She began her artistic journey by exhibiting her acrylic paintings at various events, before moving to London. There, she enriched her experience in fashion and graphic design at Central Saint Martins. Her art, mixing dreamlike landscapes and chimerical creatures, seduces an international audience, from Europe to Australia, via Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney and New York.

For Mad, art is much more than a discipline: it is a philosophy of life, an echo of her emotions and her daily life. Her works are windows on a fictional universe in constant turmoil, which seems to struggle to escape from the canvas. Through symbols and words, her mind transforms thoughts and memories into unique creations.

Each of Mad's works is a visual poem, an intimate translation of his inner world. In his universe, everything begins with a simple spot of color, gradually revealing the richness of an imaginary, vibrant and poetic reality.
