Luca Mr

Luca Mr is a multidisciplinary Italian artist whose work bridges painting, performance, and storytelling. Born in Milan, he embodies a tension between gentleness and rebellion, introspection and expressiveness—qualities that define both his personality and his art.

From a young age, Luca explored color as a natural language. His artistic journey spans acting, music, and fine art. He studied drama and performed on stages across Italy and abroad. In London, he founded his first rock band, performing as lead singer. Later, his time in the United States—between Los Angeles and New York—introduced him to the raw immediacy of street art. Through poetic graffiti, he left his mark on urban walls, merging visual language with personal narratives.

Returning to Italy, Luca enrolled at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where he began painting more formally. His work quickly drew attention, leading to collaborations with galleries and museums in a series of international exhibitions, including the Grand Palais in Paris, the Stelline Foundation in Milan, and the University Museum of Hong Kong.

Luca Mr's work captures the emotional intensity of adolescence—its beauty, vulnerability, and desire. His figures, often boys or "next-door Lolitas," are rendered with a sensual yet innocent allure. Dreamlike gardens and nostalgic woods set the stage for quiet scenes of seduction and self-discovery. As art critic Luca Beatrice writes:

“Luca chooses figuration and reinterprets it uniquely, blending the freshness of illustration with the depth of cultivated painting. His delicate yet assertive linework floats over natural backgrounds, portraying young men and women who are sensual rather than erotic. Like X-rays, rice paper petals rise in collage to form a romantic, gothic rose."

Beyond the canvas, Luca is active in publishing, music, and performance. Since March 2021, he has contributed monthly to *Icon* magazine with his graphic novel *Maleducazione Sentimentale*, later translated into English as *Poetic Miseducation* for *Fucking Young*. In November 2022, he was selected by Maison Cartier to present a new body of work.

Between 2023 and early 2024, he lived and worked between Paris and Venice. In late 2024, he co-created *The Renaissance Boys* with acclaimed actor Massimiliano Caiazzo—an interdisciplinary project exploring modern masculinity through painting, sculpture, and live performance, showcased in Milan, Rome, and Naples.

Currently, Luca is working on his debut EP as a singer-songwriter, preparing a collection of poetry and essays, and developing a multimedia theatrical piece about the complex love triangle between poets Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, and Mathilde Mauté. His installation project *The Boy's Room*, an intimate exploration of identity and memory, is also in development.

Luca Mr's work is part of esteemed private collections around the world and is exhibited in prestigious international galleries.

Since August 2025, he has been collaborating with the Tobian Art Gallery in Florence.
