Gestural painting between everyday life and social irony.
Edoardo Ettorre was born in L'Aquila, Italy, in 1994. After attending the Marie Curie Scientific High School in Giulianova (TE), he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila in 2013. During his academic years, he began to explore painting, developing a spontaneous and gestural approach that remains the defining trait of his work today.
In 2015/16 and again in 2018/19, he lived in Valencia (Spain), where he studied at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) through the Erasmus program.
His practice spans multiple fields of visual art, with a particular interest in installation and street art—languages that often coexist within his projects. Alongside his international experience, his work began to reflect a growing attention to contemporary social dynamics and critical commentary. In February 2020, he completed his Master's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila. He currently focuses primarily on painting, moving fluidly between small-format works and large-scale murals.
Working with various techniques, Ettorre depicts familiar scenes captured from everyday life—moments we observe either attentively or absentmindedly, such as a waitress on the phone or a snapshot of an evening among friends. His poetic vision centers on the relationship between the individual and society, exploring the “pre-packaged" world we inhabit. Through these themes, he invites viewers to reflect, often employing a subtle sense of irony and sarcasm.
