Marcello Ercole (Luco dei Marsi 1926)

His first artistic experiences were in Paris and Berne, but he trained in Rome attending in the Fifties his studies in Via Margutta and Villa Strohlfern where painters and sculptors worked among the most fashionable of the post-war period. In '59 the critic of the "Literary Fair", Giuseppe Sciortino prepared his first solo show in Rome, at the "Il Vantaggio" gallery directed by Eleonora Posabella.


He arrives at the Rome Quadriennale and is invited to the National Biennial of Sacred Art "Federico Motta Award", to the "F.P. Michetti ", at the" Villa S. Giovanni "Award, at the" Premio Alatri ", at the" Premio Vasto ", where on the occasion of the XIV edition Luigi Carluccio and Mario Pomilio present his anthological exhibition. In 1979, in meetings with the artists organized by the Vatican Chancellery, he met Mons. Giovanni Fallani (President of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Art), who had him perform some religious-themed works, including the two Pale for the Church of Santa Marcella in Rome.


He takes part in group exhibitions in New York, Moscow, Leningrad, Toronto, Montreal, Kofu, Jamanaki (Japan). In 1980 in Rome Ettore Russo hosted him at the "Barcaccia" where he returned in 1983. Meanwhile, on behalf of the parish priest of Luco dei Marsi, he worked at the vaults of the eighteenth-century chapel of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
