Biography
Viktor Popov (1952, USSR) is an artist of the second wave of the Russian avant-garde. He began by decorating playgrounds and building wooden villages, developing his passion for this material. In 1985, he moved to Leningrad (Saint Petersburg) and joined a group of avant-garde artists. Influenced by Malevich's Suprematism, he created geometric art and, after moving to Germany in 1991, returned to working with wood, creating abstract sculptures. He has exhibited at the State Russian Museum and in several international exhibitions.
