Biography
Mexican artist Paola Delfin is best known for her depictions of the female form, influenced primarily by illustrations. In her work, she explores all the emotions a human is capable of feeling and their different stages. The human anatomy, which she was always fascinated with, was not something Delfin could fully explore on the small paper or canvas format. This problem has led her to the world of street art, where she has flourished ever since. Today the artist has left her mark on numerous city streets around the world, including England, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Peru, Spain, Guatemala, Poland, China, Cuba, and, of course, in her home country of Mexico.
Paola Delfin was born in 1989 in Mexico City, and from a young age, she spent all her free time drawing. The artist had training at several professional institutions, including the Academia de San Carlos, where she studied graphic design and painting. Delfin approaches each and every piece of work with a meticulous tenacity that borders on obsession. Yet the results are stunning works of art that possess a staggering amount of details, able to express the creative aesthetic of her generation fully. Trying to avoid any possibility of a misunderstanding of the message she was trying to convey through her art, she has naturally transitioned to the world of street art, for she believes that “art needs to be seen everywhere possible, to bring a white wall to life, and make a story out of it”.
In her murals, Paola attempts to capture the movement itself through the fluid line that flows through the empty space. They tell a story of not only the beauty of the female form but also its fragility that exists side by side with increasable strength. The impact of the feminine can leave a mark on everything it touches.
The artist has participated in numerous charity and goodwill projects. In 2016 she painted a large-scale mural entitled "Tú eres yo" for the Conect-Arte. The project brings together artists from all over the world to teach art and share their experiences with children from San Salvador. The same year she created a 40-meter tall mural in Kyiv as part of the initiative Art United Us.
In 2023 Delfin created a mural in Delhi as part of the Lodhi Festival. However, besides murals, she has also painted numerous works showcased in exhibitions. In 2022 she took part in a group show at Adda&Sarto in Paris, in 2021 in at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco, and (2019) at Vertical Gallery in Chicago.
Paola Delfin lives and works in Mexico City.
