Javier Cortez

In 1965 he was born in Jerez, Zacatecas. He follows theoretical and practical courses at the National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP) UNAM. 1989-1993.

He has taken different painting courses, one of the most important on several occasions of "Techniques and Materials in Painting" with the Metro. Luis Nishizawa, since 1991, is a jury and consultant in visual arts programs and competitions for various public and private institutions.

Member of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FECAZ), category young creators 1995, participated in several competitions among the most important: Honorable mention at the XVI National Congress of Young Art Aguascalientes, Ags. and the acquisition price of the National Painting Salon "Francisco de Santiago" in Zacatecas (1995).

From 1997 to 1999 he was in charge of the workshop at the Zacatecas Arte Cantera center. From 1999 to 2003, he was visual arts coordinator and, until September 2013, he advised proposals for exhibitions relating to visual arts in spaces or museums, etc. by the Zacatecan Institute of Culture Ramón López Velarde. In 2004, he was selected for the poster of the cultural festival Zacatecas 2004.

Since 1999 he has been coordinator of the contemporary art gallery Arroyo de la Plata. He is a founding member of the “Nomads” Arte de la Tierra group, which presents 34 individual exhibitions and more than 135 collectively in several states of the country, in France and in the United States.

Since 2008, he has been part of the "GRUPO NEGRO" alongside the artists: Zacatecan Tarcisio Pereyra and the Germans: Charlie Tomorrow and Cora Van.
