Touils

Touils is a contemporary Moroccan artist born in 1995 in Oujda, whose pictorial universe is inscribed in contemporary painting, neo-impressionism, and poetic figuration. Self-taught, he grew up in Morocco before moving to France at the age of eighteen, a journey marked by resilience and a deep desire to transform personal trials into a work bearing hope and light. Inspired by the great masters of Impressionism, notably Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, he develops a personal pictorial language where color becomes the main vector of emotion. His work is today recognized for its ability to create idealized landscapes that invite travel, contemplation, and escape.

Touils works mainly with oil, acrylic, and oil pastels on canvas. His creative process begins with sketches made in pastel, before being transposed onto large formats where he multiplies the superimpositions of material to create depth, relief, and movement. His intense palette, dominated by bright and luminous colors, gives his works an immediately recognizable energy. Themes of nature, landscapes, architecture, gardens, flora, and water occupy a central place in his work, as does the constant search for serenity, harmony, and beauty.

Longing for Japan, Touils dedicates an important series of paintings to his emblematic landscapes, his cherry blossoms, his temples, and his rivers, translating a poetic vision of Japanese culture. Among his most remarkable works is the quadriptych Cherry Rain on the Fushimi River, which testifies to his ability to associate light, romanticism, and chromatic power. More recently, the artist has oriented his research towards the heritage of the Arab world, creating compositions inspired by mosques, traditional markets, and landscapes of countries such as Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, or Saudi Arabia, thus continuing his exploration of cultures through a deeply optimistic painting.

In 2024, Touils presented his first major solo exhibition in the United Kingdom with "True Colours", organized by the Maddox Gallery in London, an important step in his international reach. His work is today represented by several galleries in Europe and the Middle East and is featured in private collections around the world.
