Born in Amsterdam, Jacqueline Schäfer has been gifted for visual arts since her early childhood. Curious about the latest pictorial trends, she enrolled at the Art Academy of Gerrit Rietveld in the Netherlands to learn basic painting techniques. She graduated in 1989 and took on the challenge of turning her passion into her work.
Fascinated by bright colors, strongly influenced by contours and graphic shapes, Jacqueline Schäfer merges those elements to create her paintings and sculptures which are a nod to Cubism and reflect her sensitivity and joie de vivre. The year 2004 marks a turning point for the artist with the creation of her famous three-dimensional resin sculptures, Strange Birds. In a surge of color and fragmented cells, she signs a figurative and inventive style, influenced by pop art although deeply rooted in our modern times.
