Temitayo Oketola

Temitayo Oketola is a Nigerian-born visual artist based in Toronto, Canada. Working primarily in oil paint, he explores solitude, memory, and reflection through carefully composed scenes illuminated by small, intentional sources of light.

Oketola approaches painting as a way of observing places and moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through close attention to atmosphere, light, and environment, he uses familiar settings to describe emotions and reveal the significance of ordinary experiences.

Shaped by memory, personal experience, and storytelling, his work captures the warmth of lamps, windows, distant city lights, and fading sunsets, subtle glows that emerge from darkness and reveal the rich beauty that exists within it.

Oketola has exhibited his work at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair and the Halton Black History Awareness Society’s Emancipation Art Exhibition at the Helson Gallery. Through these exhibitions, his work has reached diverse audiences and continues to explore the quiet connections between place, memory, light, and lived experience.
